THRACE. Byzantium. Severus Alexander. 222-235 AD. Æ Medallion (30mm, 29.93 gm, 7h). M. Aurelius Fronto and Aelius Festa, magistrates. Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust left, holding spear and shield decorated with aegis(?) / EPI M AVP FRONTWNOC KAI AIL FHCTHC, BVZANTI/WN, Alexander on horseback right, holding spear and raising hand. Cf. Mouchmov 3394; SNG Copenhagen -; cf. SNG Hunterian 888-889 (same obverse die). VF, black-green patina, minor smoothing in fields. An apparently unique and unpublished reverse. ($300)
